Honda has successfully conducted a launch and precision landing of its experimental reusable rocket in Hokkaido, Japan, marking a major step in its aerospace ambitions. Developed by Honda R&D Co., Ltd., the 6.3-meter rocket demonstrated stability during ascent and descent, landing within 37 centimeters of its target after a 56.6-second flight. This test supports Honda’s long-term goal of achieving suborbital spaceflight by 2029, joining the global push for cost-effective reusable launch systems.

Surgeons at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center have completed the first fully robotic heart transplant in the US, replacing a failing heart without opening the chest or cutting the breastbone. Using millimeter-precision robotic tools, the team accessed the heart through small incisions, reducing trauma, infection risk, and recovery time. This breakthrough may redefine complex transplant procedures, making them safer and less invasive.

Scientists at the Italian Institute of Technology have successfully tested iRonCub3, the world’s first jet-powered humanoid robot maintained its balance in mid-air using AI and real-time flight control. Weighing 70 kg with four jet engines, the robot integrates neural networks to manage flight stability amid shifting limb positions and turbulent airflow. This innovation, detailed in Nature Communications Engineering, opens new possibilities for robotic deployment in hazardous environments.

Researchers at Purdue University have developed a suite of AI-powered tools to improve agriculture and environmental monitoring, including a robot that swims inside cows to track health, LiDAR-equipped devices for smart farming, and machine learning models that predict crop yields under future climate conditions. Tools like "Netflix for crops" help farmers choose optimal crops based on soil and water conditions, while other models detect rare crop diseases from limited data. These innovations aim to make farming more efficient, climate-resilient, and data-driven.

SandboxAQ, a US-based AI company backed by NVIDIA, has released a dataset of over 5.2 million protein-drug co-structures, each tagged with potency data, to speed up early-stage drug development. The dataset, called SAIR, uses synthetic 3D models generated with NVIDIA chips and is built on real-world experimental data, enabling AI models to more accurately predict drug-target interactions. By making this data open-access, SandboxAQ aims to reduce reliance on costly lab experiments and improve virtual screening for new therapies.

Researchers from the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and the Terasaki Institute have successfully grown human cells in live mice by injecting lab-grown organoids into the amniotic fluid of pregnant animals. This novel method bypasses traditional stem cell limitations and allowed the human cells to integrate into matching organs, including the gut, liver, and brain. The study, presented at the International Society for Stem Cell Research meeting, marks a key step toward producing transplantable human organs, while also raising important ethical considerations.
